“E-I, E-I, E-I-O, up the Premier League we go…”
My, we’re having a cracking season, aren’t we? This time last season, we were fighting relegation having lost more matches than we won and now, twelve months later, we’re sitting pretty in sixth having lost only three matches (the third one being only yesterday against Manchester City). I’m only counting Premier League matches here, by the way, rather than cup ties – if you count our defeat to Burnley, we’ve lost four, but that’s another story.
Whilst we’re on the subject of football, my Danish team, FC Copenhagen, ended their half-season on a high yesterday (we restart the season in March) and sit comfortably at the top of the Superliga on a record-breaking 51 points having won 16 and drawn 3 of all our matches. We haven’t lost any in the league though, in Europe, we’ve lost at least three (those being against Rosenborg, Barcelona and, recently, Rubin Kazan) so I hope a) we win by loads on Tuesday night against Panathinaikos (who have been spectacularly rubbish in Europe this season) and b) Barcelona beat or draw against Rubin Kazan and we should go through.
