“If music be the food of love, play on.” – William Shakespeare
First off, I want apologise for not blogging recently. I’ve been neglecting this place a lot lately and slacking in my posts.
Anyway, here’s another survey, as nicked from my best mate, Emma. I adore music, despite having absolutely zero ability to play anything (honestly, the only instruments I could ever play were the recorder and the keyboard), and I can’t hold a note either but I think music and songs are important to everybody for every situation in life. It can affect the mood you are in and can either cheer you up, make you sad, piss you off… whatever.
There’s also nothing better than finding a new band or musical genre to enjoy. Plus, everyone has a guilty pleasure or two and, as some people on my Twitter feed found out recently, some of mine are too embarrassing to admit.
I will attempt to post a normal blog post next time. Honest.
1. What are your five favourite songs right now?
The Lumineers – Ho Hey
New Politics – Goodbye Copenhagen
Caro Emerald – Tangled Up
Imagine Dragons – It’s Time
McFly – Love Is On The Radio
(NB: I do have others (see my last blog post) but these are the ones I’ve liked recently on Last.fm. Apologies for that.)
2. What is the most played song on your Last.fm?
Recently: Caro Emerald – A Night Like This.
Overall: Kurt Calleja – Boomerang.
3. What song are you listening to right now?
Nothing. I’m actually watching a bit of biathlon.
4. What was the last album you bought?
In CD form: Caro Emerald – The Shocking Miss Emerald.
In MP3 form: New Politics – A Bad Girl In Harlem. It was a cheeky free download from somewhere that wasn’t Amazon. *slaps hand*
5. What was the last gig you went to?
Last big gig I went to was Elton John back in August. It was the night he officially opened Leeds Arena. I’ve been to a couple of small gigs recently but I can’t remember who I saw.
6. What song can you not get out of your head?
At the moment, and I’m quite ashamed to admit this, but it’s Life Is Life by Hermes House Band. It was played during the ski jumping the other day and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. It’s also quite catchy.
7. What song do you listen to every day?
I couldn’t possibly say. I listen to so much rubbish that I can’t keep up with one particular song I listen to every day. I have been listening to a lot of Caro Emerald recently though so I’ll go with that.
8. What was the first album you bought?
I honestly can’t remember. I know the first single I ever bought was Mr. Blobby (yes, really) but I can’t remember the first album I bought. It may have been the Spice Girls or someone similar though.
9. What was the last single you downloaded?
Josh Record – Bones. I downloaded it after hearing it on the radio the other day and I fell in love with it straight away.
10. What is your favourite band at the moment?
New Politics. My friend introduced me to them after she saw them live the other week and I downloaded both their albums right away. Within Temptation are still a close second though.
11. Who is your favourite artist right now?
Caro Emerald. Oh, and Meat Loaf.
12. What is your favourite type of music?
Anyone that isn’t Justin Bieber, Jedward, One Direction, Cher Lloyd or Arcade Fire. They’re all shite!
13. In your top 25 most played, what is number 10?
Elbow – First Steps.
14. Quote one of your favourite lyrics.
“Come to the confessional so I can tell you all to bugger off!”
15. Do you listen to music every day?
And that’s your lot. I’ll update the header to my Christmassy-themed one tomorrow since November will officially be over by tomorrow. Where has this year gone?
